Miami and Latino Web Fests.
MIAMI WEB FEST 2015 will be held October 1st to 4th, at the William and
Joan Lehman Theater in Miami, Florida. Miami Web Fest is now the
Largest Web Festival in the World*
LATINO WEB FEST 2015, which will be held September 26-27 at the Lehman
Theater in Miami, is the “FESTIVAL OF THE AMERICAS”! It is the
first U.S.- based web series festival dedicated to providing exposure
and recognition to the best Latino productions in the entire world!
Taking place during Hispanic Heritage month, Latino Web Fest is the
ultimate celebration of culture and new media!
The Judging Panel is comprised of some of the most respected
professionals in the Entertainment Industry.
Both Miami and Latino Web Fests are co-owned by Miami Web Fest Inc, and

ROBERT PARIGI, _ABC-Marvel_
Robert is associate producer of the very popular television program
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is based on the Marvel Comics
organization S.H.I.E.L.D.(Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement,
and Logistics Division), a fictional peacekeeping and spy agency in a
world populated with superheroes and numerous supernatural phenomena.
As a producer, he specializes in post production, with extensive
experience in visual effects, animation, and new technologies. As a
writer and director, he specializes in horror.Robert’s first feature, LOVE OBJECT, won 5 international film festival awards, and is available
on DVD from Lionsgate and Netflix. He was an associate producer of the
shows “Beavis and Butt-Head” and “King of the Hill” “Tales
from the Crypt” and several productions of Warner Brothers Television.JAY FRANCIS, _Walt Disney Studios _
In 2007, Jay began his amazing work at Disney, where he currently
serves as Executive Director of Original Series.
Jay Francis graduated from the distinguished Newhouse School of Public
Communications at Syracuse University. In 1991, Jay and three partners
formed Lil’ Gangster Entertainment, a boutique animation studio with
offices in Los Angeles and Paris. The company produced traditional
animation, live action, graphics, and designs for prestigious clients
such as Cartoon Network, Electronic Arts, Interplay Productions, Sega,
Canal Plus, MTV, Universal Cartoon Studios, and Warner Bros. Animation.
In 1994 Lil’ Gangster merged with Strategic Visions to create Vortex
Media Arts, a software development company that generated over four
million dollars in revenue worldwide. Vortex clients included Hasbro
Interactive, Fox Interactive, and Creative Wonders. Prior to this, he
spent six years at DIC Entertainment, supervising such animated series
as Dennis the Menace, Heathcliff, Inspector Gadget, Madeline, and The
Real Ghostbusters. In January 1997, Jay brought his animation
production expertise to Film Roman as the Director of Talent Recruiting.
He was responsible for placing the artistic talent behind such
well-known programs as The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Mission Hill, The
Oblongs, and X-Men as well as hiring staff for the studio’s
development and digital art departments. During that time, he also
established the company’s successful Internship program.JOHN ATTANASIO, _Warner Bros. Home Entertainment_
As the Vice President of Global Product Marketing for Warner Bros. Home
Entertainment leads a team focused on developing global product
strategies and marketing campaigns that maximize monetization
opportunities for filmed content during the Home Entertainment release
window. This includes leveraging key theatrical properties to drive
adoption of new technologies and product offerings that increase
consumer brand engagement across multiple distribution platforms,
formats and devices.
He has also created and launched several business transformation
initiatives including the Innovation Incubator (i2) designed to identify
new business models and products which enhance consumer experience,
expand digital distribution and help drive break-through growth
opportunities for home media. In addition, his other innovation efforts
include developing new transmedia models in the digital content space
and leveraging alternative distribution platforms in emerging markets.
Prior to joining WB in 2004, John previously held various marketing and
business development roles at DreamWorks, Nabisco and E&J Gallo and also
co-founded CaseStack which is a SaaS provider focused on supplyside
service management.SEBASTIAN SNAIDER, _Fox Broadcasting Company_
Sebastian is the VP of Content Sales at Fox International Channels
Latin America. He is responsible for the Content Distribution Division
for a portfolio, which includes over 7000 hours of Entertainment (Series
and Telenovelas), Documentaries, Factual, Lifestyle and Sports.
Sebastian’s division licenses “blockbuster” productions and a
library archive from Fox International Channels and partners. Sebastian
is experienced in all phases of Sales, Marketing & Strategic Planning
involving online, mobile and offline business platforms. He previously
served as VP of Online Ad sales and was responsible for sales,
budgeting & strategy of Fox Business, reporting to the Fox General
Manager. His duties also included regional online strategic planning
and overseeing sales and strategy for Argentina, Chile, Colombia,
Ecuador, Central America, Mexico, Perú, Uruguay, Bolivia & Paraguay.TAWNYA BHATTACHARKA, _NBC TV Network_
Tawnya’s TV writing career was launched when she was accepted into
the 2010/2011 NBC Writers On The Verge Program, with her writing partner
Ali Laventhol. The team are currently writer/co-producers for NBC’s
THE NIGHT SHIFT and have previously written on TNT’s PERCEPTION,
USA’s FAIRLY LEGAL and THE CLIENT LIST for Lifetime. Before her
partnership with Ali, Tawnya worked in features while teaching at
Writers Boot Camp and was a FOX WRITERS INITIATIVE fellow. In 2011
Bhattacharya founded SCRIPT ANATOMY, a television and screenwriting
school and script consulting company.ISAAC LEICHT, _The Weinstein Company_
Isaac started out of college as an assistant editor at Miramax Films
before leaving Miramax with the founders, Harvey and Bob Weinstein to
launch The Weinstein Company. His initial duty was International
Marketing, running creative campaigns for releases outside the U.S. as
well as handling logistics and operations at film festivals and sales
markets including: The American Film Market, European Film Market and
Cannes. Isaac is currently developing a historical comedy show for
Weinstein Company television and shopping an original pilot. When he is
not writing and producing for television he makes movie trailers, sales
promos and print marketing materials for many of the leading studios and
production companies in the film business. Recently, Isaac has been
writing and producing for a variety of shows at ABC: 20/20, What Would
You Do, The Lookout, Nightline and The Year With Katie Couric. In
addition, he studied sketch and improv comedy at The Upright Citizens
Brigade Theatre and currently writes and directs a live monthly sketch
comedy show.REBEKAH DOPP, _CBS Corporation_
Rebekah is the Senior Vice President of Advanced Services for the CBS
Corporation. She is responsible for directing the evolution of CBS’
portfolio of media assets and increasing revenue across all digital and
emerging platforms. Rebekah stewards the execution of all TV Everywhere
initiatives across the CBS portfolio and manage the execution of Video
On Demand and her additional duties include identifying, creating and
implementing multi-platform strategies, and assisting in negotiations of
complex agreements.JUAN CLEMENTE, _AMC Networks_
Juan currently serves as Creative Producer at AMC Networks
International Latin America. He previously held a similar position at
Discovery Communications. Juan is recognized as having 360 degrees of
production skills; including concept development, scriptwriting,
coordinating voice-over sessions, and editing on both of the most used
editing software in the market.DIEGO LOPEZ CALVO, Discovery Networks
Diego currently serves as a Creative Director at Discovery Networks
Argentina. He previously held the same distinguished post at Fox
International Channels and prior to that at Turner Broadcasting System.
He brings over a decade of television industry experience to his duties
as judge of the Miami Web Fest.ALEX LANG, _Fox Broadcasting Company_
Alex Lang serves as the Senior Creative Director at Fox Broadcasting
Company. His responsibilities are to develop and produce breakthrough
clip-based promos for new series and specials, including the successful
launches of “Gotham”, “Cosmos”, and “24: Live Another Day”.
He also produced acclaimed promos for “Almost Human”, “Utopia”,
“Riot”, “Empire”, “Wayward Pines”, and “Backstrom”,
among others.
[11] MIKE TIMM, _Universal Studios_
Since November of 2007, Mike Timm has been a Creative Manager at
Universal Studios Home Entertainment, responsible for producing creative
and establishing the user experience strategies for Blu-ray/DVD menus
plus new digital formats such as iTunes: Apple TV and iOS platforms. In
the late 90s, Mike accepted a position with Robert Redford’s Sundance
Institute in Salt Lake City, UT. There, he managed the press screening
room, and assisted running both the Screenwriters & Directors Labs —
learning the all the sensitive details within cinematic storytelling
from Oscar award-winning Directors and Screenwriters. From there, Mike
co-founded the New Century Writer Awards in association with Francis
Ford Coppola’s All-Story Magazine. For several years, he served as
managing director for the program and awarded over $60,000 to unknown
yet talented writers not to mention being the conduit into the Hollywood
mainstream. Finally, he focused on his own work eventually writing &
directing his first feature “A Girl, A Guy, A Space Helmet.”
Produced for a micro-budget of $10,000, the indie comedy went on to win
many film festival awards in 2012. Currently, he’s developing his
follow-up feature, “A Karma Thing,” aiming to shoot in this year of
2015. His past experience includes writer/director of broadcast
commercials, assisting the Sundance Filmmaker Labs, Managing Director at
New Century Writer Awards and feature film production management &
assistant directing.
[12] NESTOR HERNANDEZ, _Home Box Office (HBO)_
Nestor is a creative director and executive producer at HBO Latin
America. His responsibilities include supervising development of
documentary and fiction content as well as all functions of senior
executive producer of fiction and non-fiction content. Since 2000,
Nestor Hernandez has created and collaborated on numerous projects for
clients such as Tve , Cuatro, Telecinco, Myspace, Telefónica, and most
recently HBO.
[13]AMY HELLER, _Sony Pictures Entertainment_
As the Vice President of Sony Pictures International, Amy Heller
analyzes Sony Pictures companies and products internationally in order
to maximize their performance. She previously served at the Los Angeles
office of GfK Media Control, a German-based research company. Prior to
joining GfK Media Control, she served as Vice Present of Business
Planning and Development of the Home Entertainment International
division of the Paramount Picture Corporation unit of Viacom. During her
tenure at Paramount, she spent a number of years developing business
models for participants in the home entertainment market.
[14] RYAN HARRINGTON, _Tribeca Film Institute_
Tribeca Film Institute Vice President, Artist Programs. Ryan provides
over $2 million in grants to documentary, interactive and scripted
storytellers, while developing filmmaker training labs and workshops
world-wide. Previously, he managed production at A&E IndieFilms, the
theatrical documentary arm of the Television Networks, where he
championed the films American Teen and My Kid Could Paint That and the
Oscar-nominated Murderball and Jesus Camp. He recently produced the
Producer’s Guild nominated A Place at the Table with Participant Media
which won a prestigious IDA Award.
[15] ADRIANA IBAÑEZ, _Content Artisans_
Having created the programming vision for three Spanish-language
broadcast television networks in Colombia and the US over the last 16
years, Adriana has established herself as one of the industry’s most
experienced and respected television programmers and content innovators.
Born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, she inherited her love for
film and television from her father and began her career in Bogota,
working for the newly created Colombian broadcast network Canal Caracol.
At the age of 24, she became the network’s Programming Vice President
and Spanish-language television industry’s youngest head of
programming. Adriana scheduled novelas with memorable characters such as
“Pedro el Escamoso”, as well as the first ever reality show in
Colombian television, leading the network to become number one for
several years.
Adriana then moved to Miami and served as Telemundo’s Executive Vice
President of Programming, she scheduled some of the highest-rated
products in the network’s history, including “La Reina del Sur,”
“Donde esta Elisa?,” and “El Cartel” and led the network’s
international programming efforts. Under her leadership, Telemundo was
recognized as the fastest growing Spanish-language broadcast network in
the US.
She then moved to Los Angeles to become part of the team that launched
MundoFox, the newest Spanish-language broadcast network in the US. After
only 18 months since its premiere, MundoFox had scaled three positions
among the seven Hispanic broadcast networks. Adriana’s excellent
track record of discovering and bringing innovative and
audience-pleasing content to the market has proven to be invaluable to
Latino television. This passion led her to create her latest project:
Content Artisans.
[16] DIANA FIGUEROA, _Visionnaire_
Diana is the Managing Director of Visionnaire, an independent content
company that represents and distributes scripts to make and deliver
original and inspiring television programs to Latin-American market.
She previously served as VP of Latin American sales at Beverly Hills
Entertainment, overseeing the sales of filmed products for all TV media
in Latin America including Free TV and Basic Cable.
[17] SCOTT LUXOR, _New York Post_
Scott has been a visual journalist for newspapers since he was 15 years
old, starting as a photographer, then becoming a graphic designer, art
director and now working with animated graphic design and video. Scott
has been recognized nationally and internationally for his graphic
designs and his photo editing. He is a member of the Scripps Howard
(Media corporation) Hall of Fame. Scott spent six years working at the
New York Post as both a print and digital visual journalist.
[18] BORJA MACIAS, _Crodity_
Borja Macías, originally from Madrid, began his career in the
multinational company DoubleClick, a company acquired by Google, in the
business of measuring advertising campaigns online and today a worldwide
leader. He then created his own company in e-commerce taking it to a
market leadership position in Spain in technology products and a later a
successful exit. Borja then migrated to Brazil to create the first
online marketing company specializing in performance measurement, the
local industry pioneer and leader then joined the group that would later
be sold to the multinational Fox International Channels. After
commanding the division on FOX for a number of years he created a social
network with the participation of other major players, he led several
rounds of funding and created subsidiaries in Brazil and Spain.
[19] CARLOS IBARRA, _Televisa_
Carlos Ibarra is a broadcast journalist for Foro Tv, the news channel
of Televisa, the most important national private TV broadcaster in
Mexico. Carlos anchors “Las Noticias de las 23:30”, broadcast
Fridays and Saturdays.
As reporter, Carlos has been awarded with the “Premio AMIS de
Periodismo en Seguros 2014″ (AMIS Price on Journalism, which
specializes on insurance business), by the Asociación Mexicana de
Instituciones de Seguros (Mexican Association of Insurance
Institutions).
He has covered several political sources in Mexico, including the
Mexican Congress, the agendas of former Mexican presidents Vicente Fox
and Felipe Calderón; federal ministries, and has also covered special
pieces on natural disasters as Haiti ́s 2010 earthquake, and the 2005
“Stan” hurricane in 2005, which ravaged Chiapas in Mexico, and
Guatemala.
[20] DIANA VARGAS, _Cuny TV Nueva York_
Diana is the producer of CUTY TV Nueva York, an Emmy award winning
series about Latino culture in New York. The 30-minute show explores the
rich textures of Latino society in the city, focusing on politics, art,
culture, and the traditions of Spanish-speaking populations across the
metropolitan area. She previously served as Artistic Director of the
The Havana Film Festival New York (HFFNY), which collaborates with
Havana’s International Festival of New Latin American Cinema to
introduce its audience to prominent and emerging filmmakers by
showcasing the latest award-winning films and classics from and about
Latin America, the Caribbean and the U.S. Latino community.
[21] ERIN MANACHER, _Hollywood Script Research (HSR)_
Erin R. Manacker, currently holds the title of partner at Hollywood
Script Research (HSR), A Pasadena based firm providing legal clearance
reports for films, webisodes, commercials, and television.
Born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, and coming from a family
entertainers and writers, Manacker is no stranger to the entertainment
industry. Joining Hollywood Script Research in 1998, she has worked hard
to continue the quality and personalization of the HSR report, while
moving at the speed of today’s evolving technological advancements
within the field. When asked about this, Manacker stated; “The
Internet, and new media outlets such as streaming services and web based
channels have created more content, and a wealth of creative projects
from movies to webisodes which is a great thing. One of our top
priorities over the years has been to make our service inclusive to any
size budget and project, and we have done just with affordable rates and
a quick turnaround time.”

[22] NIGEL MIGUEL, _Belize Film Commissioner_
Nigel is a Belizean-American actor, film producer, and technical
advisor who is currently the film commissioner for Belize. He is also a
former professional basketball player. Miguel played college basketball
for the UCLA Bruins, earning all-conference honors in the Pacific-10
(currently known as the Pacific-12). He played one season professionally
in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). Using his athletic
skills and basketball talents, he later landed acting and advisor roles
in commercials, movies, and television. In 1994, Miguel was appointed by
Belize as goodwill ambassador to the United States, and the government
named him its film commissioner in 2008. Miguel has also owned
production company II Jam Casting & Production since 1995.
[23] JARROD MOSES, _United Entertainment Group_
Jarrod is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and President of United
Entertainment Group. A seventeen-year veteran of creating brand deals
in the entertainment industry, many industry colleagues as well as
educators, cite Jarrod’s work as the cornerstone of the
branded-entertainment industry– bridging the gap between Madison
Avenue and Hollywood.
After quickly rising through the ranks of Grey Advertising as it’s
youngest President, Jarrod founded UEG as a joint venture with Hollywood
powerhouse United Talent Agency. Under Jarrod’s leadership, UEG has
developed successful entertainment campaigns for marketers such as
Procter & Gamble, Frito-Lay, General Mills, AT&T, Diageo, and Starbucks,
while at the same time working closely with the world’s most
influential entertainment companies Time Warner, Comcast, MTV Networks,
Facebook, and Google, and celebrities such as Mark Wahlberg, Queen
Latifah, Pharrell Williams, and Drew Barrymore. Moses’ work has
earned him many industry accolades including Emmys, Platinum Records,
Cannes Lions, and Effies. Jarrod’s been featured in The New York
Times, Variety, Hollywood Reporter, AdAge, and on NBC’s The
Apprentice, CNN, ABC, Bloomberg TV and Radio, Fox Business News, and
many international publications as an expert on this new world of
communication. Jarrod is also an adjunct professor of marketing at
Columbia University Business School, a member of the Board of the
Hamptons International Film Festival, and a co-founder of the New York
Comedy Festival.
[24] CHRISTIAN POCCARD, _Eurochannel_
Christian Poccard is currently the VP of Programming and Acquisitions of
Eurochannel where he’s been working since 2001.
Miami-based, of French and Italian background, he was born in Buenos
Aires and lived for 20 years in S?o Paulo.
He holds Master degree in Marketing and Communications from the Armando
Alvares Penteado Foundation and a MBA in Business from the Getúlio
Vargas Foundation, in S?o Paulo, Brazil.
A lover of cinema since his early childhood years, he worked as an
Executive Producer at the S?o Paulo International Film Festival,
participating in the programming selection and working in the theatrical
release of many international films.
His expertise of International Cinema and culture and knowledge of five
languages has allowed him to contribute to several magazines during his
career, collaborating as a juror for the International Emmy Awards for
many consecutive years, as well as events like the Brazilian Film
Festival in Miami.
[25] CLAYTON DAVIS, _Awards Circuit_
Clayton Davis is the editor of AwardsCircuit.com editor. Clayton has
become a proud member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association where he
votes and attends the kick off to awards season show, The Critics Choice
Movie Awards. Most recently, Clayton is a now an active member of the
International Press Academy, which hosts the popular Satellite Awards as
well as the newly integrated Broadcast Television Journalists
Association, which hosts the Critics Choice Television Awards.
[26] LUIS ANTONIO PEREIRA, _Eclectic Entertainment_
Luis Antonio Pereira is the CEO of ECLECTIC ENTERTAINMENT, a film
production company based in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. He started his
career as an actor in ” Opera of the Trickster ,” by Chico Buarque .
He acted in several plays in Rio de Janeiro and Los Angeles. In Los
Angeles, he performed in the Broadway musical ” Big River ” and “
The Sound of Music.”, and also danced with the WADE black dance
company in ” David and Goalith ” . Luis was nominated for the
distinguished “Bobby Awards” for his role as supporting actor in the
comedy ” Much Ado About Nothing ” by William Shakespeare. From
there, he moved to Los Angeles and worked with Major League Productions
producing independent feature-length films. His tasks included
developing projects, formulating budgets, managing production, and
establishing itineraries for future productions. Luis worked on the
Universal Studios production ” Family Man ” with Nicholas Cage, and
“Little Nikki ” with Adam Sandler.
[27] PATRICIA JASIN, _Fly Content_
Patricia is International Sales & Developing Executive at Fly Content,
a company that has a select catalog of programs and formats from
channels and independent producers worldwide. Her work involves
providing the vision, strategies and leadership required to develop
business opportunities in the entertainment industry. She is an expert
at capitalizing on networks, liaisons and business connections, while
negotiating/managing strategic partnerships among the main players of
the entertainment industry.
[28] VALERIE CABRERA, _Entertainment One_
Valerie Cabrera is the Executive Vice President of Entertainment One, a
leading international entertainment company that specializes in the
acquisition, production and distribution of film, television and music
content. eOne’s comprehensive network extends around the globe
including Canada, the US, the UK, Benelux, Spain, Australia, New
Zealand, France, Ireland, Scandinavia, South Africa and South Korea.

[29] LORENZO MUSCOSO, _Dreamworld Pictures_
Lorenzo Muscoso is a filmmaker, author and journalist. He graduated in
Communication and Film Director at the University of Roma Tre DAMS with
a thesis on film by Paolo Sorrentino. He has made hundreds of interviews
with personalities from the film and entertainment, designed
communications projects, including, ObamaStay, which has received high
appreciation from the Network’s direct American President;
Unchainedfilm aimed at the promotion of the film by Quentin Tarantino,
Electionpaper on all’elezioni policies Italian, also reported by Rai
and Agi. In Milan he received the award for its commitment to social
journalism. He has collaborated with the National Union of Criticism,
published a book on the western genre. He cared for printing and
distribution of the film “Midway”. As a director, he wrote and
directed several works on social issues, such as disability and violence
against women, winning prizes and special awards in festivals around the
world. He has produced an audiovisual show, entitled “Sensitivity
Sonore” in collaboration with Enrico Lo Verso and Gabriele Denaro. He
has curated important as that of the royal Euromediterrano Award, at the
Capitol in Rome, the Western Media Festival and the Indie Fest.
[30] BRIAN ESTUS, _Movie Plus_
Brian Estus is President of United Home Entertainment in Bangkok,
Thailand. Brian received his B.S. in Hotel Management from Plattsburgh
State University of New York and after working in the industry for 3
years in the U.S. moved to Asia. During his 20 year career in Asia,
Brian has managed physical distribution in Thailand for leading
worldwide content companies such as Walt Disney, Sony Pictures, Warner
Bros., Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures.
Independent film acquisitions at international markets like The American
Film Market, Festival de Cannes, The Asian Television Forum, The Berlin
Film Festival, and the Hong Kong Film Mart. Brian is now co-leader of
an online streaming site featuring independent and Hollywood films via
SVOD/TVOD and EST offers to Thai consumers. He currently resides in
Bangkok with his wife and two daughters. He can be reached at

[31] DANIEL RODRIGUEZ, _Shine International_
Daniel Rodriguez serves as the Vice President of Latin American Sales
for Shine International, Shine Limited, the parent company, was founded
in March 2001 by Elisabeth Murdoch, daughter of News Corporation CEO
Rupert Murdoch. Daniel’s responsibilities include format sales and
business development.
[32] JEANETTE B. MILO, _Motion Picture and Television Producer_
Jeanette B. Milio is a producer and financier of motion pictures and
television programming. Over the span of twenty five years and working
across three continents, she has been involved in over 45 motion picture
and television projects with a total production value exceeding $250
million. Born and raised in Cologne, Germany, Jeanette ‘s career
started in 1989 working in prime time programming at RTL Televison, one
of Europe’s top network stations. Since her immigration to the US in

and Forrest Whitaker, distributed by Sony Pictures, Dark Tide, directed

Dusten is the Marketing and Acquisitions Management and Coordinator for
Gaiam TV. Her primary duties include providing support to the Senior
SEO Manager and Content Strategy & Acquisitions Manager. From copy, to
film and video, and online communities, Dusten has created content and
helped production companies, entrepreneurs, and businesses with media
campaigns, social media content and social media programs, web copy,
research and analysis, work flow and media production.

Gottlieb directed three award winning feature films: JUST ONE OF THE
GUYS, CADILLAC RANCH and ACROSS THE MOON as well as a number of
television episodes for programs including “Dream On”, “Freddy’s
Nightmares” and “Boy Meets World.” Gottlieb is also a still
photographer with a new book coming out: The Stooges: The Authorized &
Illustrated Story. She taught film making and directing at the
University of Southern California School of Cinema and at Columbia
College, Chicago. Gottlieb holds the Master of Fine Arts degree in
Creative Writing from Antioch University. She joined the faculty of the
University of Miami Motion Pictures program in the fall of 2007 as an
Associate Professor.

A veteran screenwriter, producer and director with more than three
decades of experience in the film industry, Musca captured Hollywood’s
attention as the producer and co-writer of 1988’s critically-acclaimed
Stand and Deliver, which won six Independent Spirit Awards, including
Best Picture and Best Screenplay, and earned a best actor Golden Globe
and Academy Award nomination for actor Edward James Olmos.? Columbia
Pictures released his first screenplay Little Nikita, starring River
Phoenix and Sidney Poitier. In 1993, Musca also produced and co-wrote
Money For Nothing starring John Cusack. His most recent projects
include the screenplay, Tortilla Soup, an adaptation of Ang Lee’s Eat,
Drink, Man, Woman; The Frenchman, a period romance set in the Caribbean
currently in development, and KINGZ, a high school chess movie produced
by Scott Rosenfelt (Home Alone, Smoke Signals).
Musca is a graduate of Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in
English and earned his M.F.A. in screenwriting from UCLA in 1981. In
film school he collected two student Emmys, twice won The Rod Serling
Award, and placed first in the American Film Institute’s video
festival. He has served on the faculty of Loyola Marymount University
and has conducted master classes at the Praxis Centre for Screenwriters
in Vancouver. Musca has been a guest lecture at the Sundance Institute,
UCLA, NYU, USC and the AFI International Film Festival, among others.
